Alan Whittle
Player Valuation: £70m
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Palace in the Premier League, surviving, winning, owned by the first folk to be capable and decent since the early 70's. Selhurst Park now back in club ownership, gullible yanks investing billions, best first team squad since 1991, best atmosphere in the ground on match days ever.
And yet, and yet.
We have become something else. We have joined the demand for instant success, faultless players, trillions to be spent on players whilst developing Selhurst Park (which is considered by us to have a certain faded grandeur and visiting supporters to be a s**thole) and making a healthy profit to be reinvested in reducing ticket prices.
And we want it now.
Sighs deeply and continues,
We have now won a league match for the first time, seemingly, since Stalin was judged to be a bit of a rum cove, and so the bedlam of blaming Pardew ( I know you like that bit) Parish, the yanks, Brexit, the Geordies and the Zeka virus has diminished somewhat.
Enter Everton.
And you are welcome as ever. Although we need at least one more win to feel comfortable and so in theory it is a vital game, it does, crammed into mid week and with both clubs having FA cup semi finals on the near horizon, feel a bit half a*sed. Doubtless the away section of "The Arfur"will be full and noisy but with most blues with one ear tuned northeastward for confirmation of just who it is they will be clanking at Wembley.
For us Hennesy is in shocking nick, and the Bolasie, Zaha, Puncheon triumverate can never fire on all three cylinders together. Wickham has the injury levels of Andy Carroll. No one has seen Adebayor.
And we still beat Norwich
You seem, with the noble exception of Lukaku, to be in similar form so I'm not expecting a classic. Although Cleverley seems to be improving and Lennon looks a great signing.
I have done fatherly duties and acquired SF tickets for the Everton game as well as ours. Hoping for two wins and a Palace v Everton final. That would be the best outcome
Although that would also be the worst outcome in our family.
Naff off Charles Dickens.
