If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense in theory.
The 'keeper that far forward means the angle is slimmer so he's got a chance of diving and saving the ball if it's aimed towards the top corner before it reachers the full height. Meanwhile, any low or high drifted curler gets headed off the line.
So the only chance of scoring is to put it in a postage stamp area of the goal in the very top corner, where a 'keeper on the line wouldn't save it anyway.
Well, it worked.

We did it when I played for the Rose and Crown. Some git stuck it in the top corner!!
The opposing team would usually stick players on the line to interfere with a clear jump.
well the forwards move out with them and the whole on the line thing is out! Getting complicated now. Then the defence step forward half a yard as the kick is taken and they're offside if they move towards the ball in any way I assume?
last minute of the derby, 0-0.....and everton does that....what would Slippy-G do...
Score of course.
i thought he would laugh and s*** in his pants, then have a heart attack.
