The Esk

Player Valuation: £70m
As a footballer I have always held him in the highest regard.

Without doubt the best central midfielder of his generation in the Premiership, - he had it all, goals, assists, passing, tackling and back tracking plus complete professionalism, apparently first on the training field and last off.

Sense of humour on the pitch too "calm down, calm down"

Decent bloke, always seemed to score against us though.

I remember a couple (?) of seasons ago he went to the Chelsea fans after the game and made a big deal about chatting to a load of the disabled supporters. He gave the Park End a clap on his way there as well, which, given he'd scored twice didn't go down too well with some but he seemed genuine about it.

Seems bound for the US which, with apologies to our American friends here, seems a shame, I'm sure his legs are good for another season in England.

Massive respect for him. Outstanding player over the past decade - head and shoulders above Gerrard who is shockingly thought of as the best central midfielder ever in the universe ever. Shame to see him leave the league but cannot argue with him fancying a new challenge and an exciting few years in the States.

Never had any beef with lampard (apart from the fact he always seemed to score against us...I think he has scored more goals against Everton than he has against any other PL clubs...so, on second thoughts, I DO have a beef with him! lol

If he'd of played for another team barring Chelsea would have been more highly thought of.

Certainly one of the best all round midfielders around and not a reprehensible human being. Which being at Chelsea is quite a shock.

Better than Gerrard too.

I think the fact that Lampard has been one of Chelsea's best players for the best part of 12 years while they've been able to buy some of the worlds top talent says an awful lot about Lampard and his ability and dedication to the game. Apart from the fact he's related to the Redknapps I can't think of a bad thing about him. In fact he went right up in my estimation when he rang that a'hole radio presenter up who was calling him all sorts and had it out with him live on air.

Great point.

Chelsea had the funds to buy pretty much anyone they want and he not only kept his place but excelled in his role. Some fans (mainly Liverpool due to their need to defend Gerrard at all times) downplay his ability but he started in some of the best premiership teams of all time. The team that won Chelsea their first premiership was something else.

Great player, decent bloke. Keeping his place for all those years as Chelsea spent billions tells you something about his ability. Dont begrudge him any of his medals and achievements.

The difference between Gerrard and lampard is simple. Gerrard is a big I am player who has always made himself the centre of attention. Lampard has always been a team player and been a part of a great team instead

fantastic player and deserves all the credits he gets.

unless a super injunction runs out... . ........

btw what ever happened to super injunctions?

Great player.... Seems a decent fella too..... Deserves all the plaudits he gets..... But I'd still rather have Paul scholes in his prime ha ha
