Former Arsenal and Everton striker Francis Jeffers is in talks with Maltese Premier League club Floriana.

Jeffers, 31, was at Australian club Newcastle Jets last season but has opened discussions with Floriana, who also hope to sign former Fulham keeper Tony Warner, 38.

"We hope to finalise all contract terms before the eagerly anticipated derby against Valletta on 20 October," said a statement on Floriana's website.

Floriana are seventh in the table.

Jeffers started his career at Everton before completing a £10m move to Arsenal in 2001.

His career has also taken him to Charlton, Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle Jets and Motherwell.

Who are Floriana?

25-times champions of Malta.
In 2012 Floriana signed a partnership agreement with British investor Stephen Vaughan.
Lost 12-0 on aggregate to Sweden's Elfsborg in the Europa League qualifying round, with the second leg in Malta attracting a crowd of just 266.

My dad always goes on about Floriana as Ipswich smashed them like 14-0 or something in that season the won the UEFA Cup.

John Wark scored like 8 or something.

Now someone can finally say "Tony Warner and Francis Jeffers...we're going to win the league!" and not look like a complete idiot.

My Grandparents were on holiday in Malta and Ebepton turned up their in their hotel to play a game against Hamrun Spartans, they sorted them tickets and transport to and fro when they found out they were blues.

He's sh1t and he's knows he is... They'll probably bin him after a season when they realise what a tw@ he is.

He might have gone a bit rubbish, but he's definitely not a "tw@t" as you call him, far from it, people who know him say he's a really decent feller, so go easy on a fellow Evertonian aye lad.

Well said.

We sold him for an excellent price when we knew his injuries had weakened him.

I wish him well. I imagine it's quite a nice place for a sunny kickabout.

Coulda been a great for us, but the fates conspired against him (and us).

Good luck Franny! :)

cant help feel he wasted his talents, he later admitted to having a big ego and attitude problem in his mid 20's.

he was truelly awful for blackburn and sheffield wednesday

driving round town in a convertible with abel xavier until the early hours of the morning didnt help his career either

I suppose you know this from your many conversations with him over the years. Even if he was a tw*t (not saying he was), he left Everton 11 years ago, people change a lot between the age of 20 and 31 you know.
