Four 30min Quarters for Pre-Season Friendlies?

Why? It's a practise session, nothing else. Pre-season should be used to trial formations, bed in new players, and build up fitness. There is nothing at stake, therefore there is no real need to simulate a real match.

No real need not to either. It all sounds a bit 'Rodgers/Brent' to me.

I suppose if you had 30 min sessions and reset the score after each one they'd be pretty intense sessions, would keep the smaller team interested as they could actually will and 30 min session rather than traipsing round the pitch 7-0 down.
anything that gets more of the squad playing more minutes preseason has to be good.

EFC have played two matches on the same day in the past, splitting the squad the squad in two. Surely it is better if you can take the whole squad and trial a variety of formations over the length of the match. I think you're just being stubbornly traditional for the sake of it. As I say, it's a training session, they should structure it however they want.

Okay mate, fair enough. When Jose tries it, I'll humbly admit it might have some value. Until then, I'm not about to start calling Norwich pioneers in footy training.
