Anyone here own a Ford 1.0L EcoBoost or know about the issue?

We just ran into problems with a Focus we bought new in 2017. Full service history, never missed. Never been driven hard. All of a sudden the Oil Light comes on & we discover it’s a known problem with Recalls in US, but not in UK.

I’d be interested to know if anyone else has had similar problems?

Or if you have one of these or know anyone who does, it’s worth knowing about this issue.

Aye we've got a 1.0 grand c max....
Nothing but trouble....
On 77k ATM but apparently had a mew engine at 50ish....
New turbo at 72k....
Coolant leak which resulted in new coil packs, spark plugs etc.....
Spent over £600 in less than 9 months just to keep it on the road and only done 4k in it since owning it...
Getting rid as soon as I can afford to, unfortunately looks like I'm going to have to sacrifice my volvo in order to get another 7 seater as the ecoboost is so bad

No laughing matter this to be fair. This is a known fault on this engine and Ford have issued recalls for it in the USA but not the UK. It's serious and very likely to cause catastrophic engine damage, not a cheap fix anyway even before engine damage occurs. They will not honour repairs as it stands even if like the OP you have bought the car brand new and have full Ford dealership service record. they just fob people off.
I wonder when they do recall the UK cars will they also refund the many owners who've shelled out big money already on engine damage Ford knew all along could and would occur.

Is there a manufacturing time range that affected, or is it all engines and an on going issue?
Have 2019 1.0 Ecoboost Focus on about 33k miles. Not had any issues at all but it very lightly driven. So much so it’s currently complaining that it needs a long run to clean the cat / exhaust system.

I've got a 1 ltr ecoboost Manual Fiesta thats now just over 10 years old with 48K on the clock.

Even if Ford did offer to pay to fix I guess I'm probably towards the back of the queue but as I'm the 3rd owner, limited service history etc then probably no hope.

Main Dealer price to change the belt and water pump = £1800 (quote last week)

If I do decide to get it done I'll want to know the replacement actually fixes the problem and get that in writing in case of same issues down the line.

I think the issue is the actual belt tensioner mate. If they do change the belt ensure the tensioner is swapped out too or it's a waste of time.
