I've never liked Motson - he always comes across as a smartalec, forever name-dropping (which they all do to some extent). However a few years ago, when BBC had lost the TV rights for a season, he was doing radio commentary and it was excellent. He described the games in such detail you could visualise them. And there is the big problem with a lot of them in my opinion, the way they insist on describing everything that's going on in the game as if it was a radio commentary and not on TV. I can see what's going on and I don't need someone telling me what's in front of me. The other bugbear, which they all do, is saying that a player is going to do something half a second after he's actually done it. Very annoying.Green seems to just moan about every match he commentates on. At least Peace comes across as a likeable chap.
I used to like Tyler, but his bias seems to be ever more apparent these days.
None of them can hold a candle to the best football commentator of all-time - Jon Motssen.
