I reckon lots of players check out forums, there must be a certain level of curiosity when you know lots of people are talking about you. God knows whether they go as far as savage did though !

There are worse cases.

Quite recently a former Belgian international goalkeeper (30 caps; between 2006-2010) Stijn Stijnen.

He waged an online campaign on the club forum against the other goalkeepers of the team, the board, criticized other players of the team and continuously glorified his own person and leaked private club info.

He was quite good at it. He even had multi's and such.

Eventually the club found out that it was him (they tracked his IP and similar stuff) and he got sacked. After that his career was ruined.
