Football Rules Fight Club

NeilMorepies

Player Valuation: £35m
I’m sure supporters of a certain vintage will remember Gazza getting a yellow for Rangers after ‘booking’ the Ref.

The Ref had dropped his yellow, Gazza picked it up to return it, had a laugh by showing it to the Ref and gave it back, only to be booked for his assistance.

My question would be, why was Vardy not booked yesterday for blowing the Ref’s whistle to stop the game, as the Ref was down injured? Surely that was more of an offence than joking with the Ref during a break in the game?

Are players allowed to blow the ref’s whistle in an emergency?
Who stops the game if the Ref can’t?
Does the fourth official/assistants have the ability to stop the game? And why didn’t they? Or did they and Vardy’s blowing was irrelevant?

I genuinely reckon he was doing it to help
They did carry on after the ref fell

Not saying he wasn’t helping, but surely blowing the Ref’s whistle is against the rules, no matter what the circumstances?
And why didn’t the other officials stop the game (and if it was them, that actually stopped it, why wasn’t Vardy booked for interfering?)

You are correct mate.
It'll probably be on ref watch.

But the ref was out cold .
Var?
Possibly.
Re reffing game?

Isn't it amazing how much dislike can be held for those in authority.

The rules have changed since Gazza and Shearer’s day, but only to make things even more strict, and define beyond doubt what is ‘acceptable’ from a player/ref interaction.

Even Carragher, never went as far as blowing the ref’s whistle while refereeing RS games.

Vardy is a disgusting human being.

That ref could easily have been badly hurt in that incident and he takes the opportunity to make a "joke" of the situation. Imagine how the feller's family felt watching on...and Lineker chuckling away instead of confronting the rancid scumbag about it.

I hope before he retires he gets his legs splintered in a tackle. I'll laugh my bollocks off if that happens to the racist get.

Not a fan then?

Because it's Vardy and he's a 'cheeky chappy'. Ndiaye gets yellow cards for celebrating with his arms out like a bird for supposedly riling up fans, whereas Vardy can stand face to face with opposition fans and point to his Premier League logo with no punishment. Obviously neither 'offence' should even be a talking to, but if you're booking one, you have to book the other.
