Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
apart from sayers there are some great things to eat on the go.

in greece the souvlaki in pitta is sublime.

heres some others from around the globe
1. South Africa – Bunny chow

'Bunnies' as the locals call them, consist of hollowed out bread bowls filled with curry sometimes containing meat. The Durban dish has an unsettling history as it's believed to have been a method of serving 'untouchable' workers during apartheid. Now enjoyed across South Africa bunny chow is a deliciously hearty street food treat. It's a strictly hands on affair so be prepared for messy fingers - but using a spoon just wouldn't be the same.

Falafel

These little spicy balls of beans or chickpeas have journeyed from the East where they're often served with salad and harissa. Easy to carry and scrumptious to scoff falafel have become the snack of choice the world over, from the souks of Tunis to the food stalls of T in the Park. Stick a patty in a pitta and you're falaf-ing.

Vine Leaves

That bottom one looks so wrong

they is good....

Vine leaves stuffed with rice have been popular snacks throughout the Middle East for centuries. Believed to be born from the tent cookery of the Bedouin nomads, warack dawali were perfect edible packages that helped travellers transport rice and veg from camp to camp. As the caravans journeyed across countries the recipe adapted to the surrounding spices and seasonings. Kind of like a culinary chameleon

Had some for lunch - local buffet w/ terrific grape leaves, falafel, kibbie, tabooleh salad, lentils and rice, and much more. You've gotta love the middle eastern chow. Good stuff. But then, I'm kind of an omnivore. (y)
