Am i being cynical or just a socialist?

Some of the great cities of the north, Leeds,Manc,York and surrounding areas, are under water.

If the same happened in the Tory heartlands down south, would more of an effort have been made to help the people? I seem to recall the Thames valley flooding a few years back and the response being a lot more helpful than it is now.

Discuss.

Cameron showed his face in Cumbria, did a few handshakes, a speech and got off. Hasn't been out.

Because the places that flood are in the North Layne? Places that vote Labour?
Newsflash: other parts of the country have experienced flooding in recent years. I suppose the tories have done some sort of rain dance to direct the rain to the North have they? Don't be pathetic.

Also, a quick check of Cumbrian MPs tells me 2 of the 5 MPs are Tory, which rather contradicts the idea that it's some sort of Labour punishment.

One of whom is the floods minister who's involved in massive cuts to DEFRA, the EA and funding for flood defences. The dipshits have slashed the money going into preventing scenarios like we've seen this last month and are now picking up a bill which far outweighs that 'saving'. Typical Tories, knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

....there is probably an argument that flooding happened in the North during the Blair years and in the shires under the Tory's but I think there is a London centric approach on many things. The Thames flood barrier was a massive investment and I doubt if that would be replicated elsewhere.

but seriously, I seem to remember those Somerset floods and all the people / experts going on about how the riverbeds had not, over the years, due to cuts and/or we don't need it etc. been kept clear.

The north has never been short of rain
so either global warming is off the scale which it might be, but I would go at the first instance of c, sorry mess-up over conspiracy.

also a lot of this is happening in 'old' communities, not new builds on flood plains

what ever, the good people have my sympathy

not short of the odd flood in brisbane

Couple hundred million saved and now bills running into the billions and weeks of distress for people. Austerity economics in a nutshell.
