Laptop fell off the table last night, screen completely destroyed. Warranty won't cover it, don't have insurance. How much roughly am I looking at to get it fixed?

Depends on the laptop/screen model. Can poss pick up a new screen for £50 on ebay if you're lucky, then replace it yourself if your half decent at taking things apart and putting them back together. I've done a few for my school where I've swapped screens/bevels from one laptop to the other, it's not too difficult as long as your careful and make sure you note where everything goes/connects!

I'd just buy a new one mate.

Only just bought this one!

Hmmm might look into this then.

Maybe get insurance, put up with the broken screen and then claim after a week or so? If you can do without it, that is.

Someone just suggested this in work....would there not be a lot of excess though as it's not been stolen?

I replaced our kids laptops myself mate. It's easy. New screen cost about £40 off ebay

Will look into this fo shizzle

I think my laptop insurance is £4 a month and the excess is £75, but you might be able to find it cheaper.

However, as the other lads have said it might be cheaper and easier to get a new screen fitted. Is there any independent computer repairs near you? I'd imagine if you could get hold of a screen they wouldn't charge to much to fit it if you don't want to do it yourself?

There's loads of electrical/gadget shops about who sell cheap phones and stuff. They're known to overcharge for repairs but I'm sure they'll have a cheap screen available. Thanks for the advice!

Need the same advice but for an iPhone 5 screen.

My mate fixed his iPhone screen. Might have been a 4 tho, no idea really. Said it was easy tho, just got a replacement screen kit off ebay for about £20. Bit fiddly etc but simple enough. You can find 'how to' vids on youtube.
