Five things that annoy you about modern football

rascal

Player Valuation: £60m
I am only a young pup compared to most so the below is only relevant to my people.

1) How much money your club makes i.e. sponsorship, is seen as something to celebrate.

2 With the exception of a notable few, modern players aren't as good any more. Even midcarders such as Ivan De La Pena or Claudio Lopez were significantly better than their contemporaries.

3. Outstanding characters - Only Zlatan is worth paying attention to. The rest are completely boring.

4. Money is more important these days than success. I may be alone in this but if I had a choice between AC Milan or QPR, I'd go for the former even if they were offering less. I see this with Ramires, he is giving up his peak years to earn huge bucks at some poxy team in China.

5. Far too many stepovers.

What are yours?

I disagree with you in so many ways.

It's just moaning as we aren't performing in commercial revenues like we should.

Plus step overs are good.

  1. Commentators deliberately mispronouncing a player's name
  2. Passing and possession are seen as almost as important as the score
  3. Half & half scarfs
  4. The boots that go up past players' ankles
  5. Invented stories of stupidly low season ticket prices in Europe
"You can get a season ticket at Bayern Munich for £8.50 you know!"
"Really?!"
"Yeah, a fella in work said"

The whole sports corrupt.

I also miss the days of teams like Ajax, Red Star Belgrade, Celtic etc being strong in European competitions.
It's mostly because of money that there's no longer surprising winners there - football in most of Eastern Europe, for example, is nowhere near the level of Spain/France/England and their lower tiers, let alone top divisions. The level playing field exists no more, so...

Referees wanting to be as big as the match they offciate.

Referees being paid with absolutely zero comebacks for shocking decisions.

The tedious pre-match fanfare & rigmarole that goes with it - It's watford vs bournemouth on a wet monday night, not the world series universal all-time cup final of cup finals fafs.

CBA thinking of any more - they'll do for now.
