I’m Protestant and ours is ace as you say. Have you ever seen the design for your Lutyens one that was never built. There’s a model in one of the museums.

Imagine those two magnificent things either end of Hope Street.

Also if you’re into that sorta thing, St Paul’s in Derby Lane in Stoneycroft was a preliminary design for our cathedral before Scott expanded it and designed the big ‘un.

That happens in every pub when I enter.

Somebody on here mentioned the model for the original design. I hadn’t seen it but looked it up and to have the 2 of them would have been fantastic. Shame It never got built. Thanks mate, I’ll have to take a look at St Paul’s next time I’m in the area

How come someone from New York can get tickets for our home games yet someone from Norris Green can't?

We bought memberships, which we have done for the last 5-6 years (except the Covid year) on the chance we would make the trip. The members pre-sale was on Monday. Cost of the memberships was £90 for the 3 of us together, so we essentially paid that for the certainty of being able to buy the tickets before booking the flight and taking time off work. We do get some socks and pencil sharpeners and stuff like that with Everton logos on it.

Hello.

I, Mrs THBJ, and Teen THBJ are thrilled to have just scored tickets to the Wolves game on Saturday 26 August.

We will fly from New York to Manchester on the Thursday red eye, arriving Friday morning. We plan to spend a few days in Liverpool & environs, then go via rail to Edinburgh and visit friends there for a few days.

We have not been to Goodison or Liverpool, or Scotland. I spent half a year in London as a student and travelled around England some, and have been back several times since although not in 20+ years. It will be our daughters first trip outside of the States.

We’d like to stay in a B&B or small hotel in Liverpool city center. Any recommendations for that, or for food, what’s on etc. eagerly sought. Also up for any recommendations on places to stop en route to Edinburgh for a day off the beaten track. I enjoyed a visit to the Lake District and was considering that, but it seems maybe too remote. We’re from Brooklyn but we really like country fairs and there’s one in Keswick on 28 August but it seems like that train to Windemere plus a bus through the lakes would be really poky and I’d rather not rent a car.

Tips for game day experience also welcome although for those who would steer me to The Lisbon, rest assured that I’d rather enjoy the company of the good folks there, than drink with someone who thinks that they’re pranking us by sending us there. Maybe see some of youze for a pint?

Thanks.
I've just remembered the name of the worst restaurant in Edinburgh - Cafe Keno...it's about 2/3 the way up of The Royal Mile on the 'up hill' side of the road (as the British drive)

Top-Tip, if anyone ever starts a sentence with the words "I'm a protestant" leave the area immediately and block them on all social media. Nothing against protestants in general, just those that need to start a sentence with that need avoiding. Bonfire dwelling weirdos.

"Excuse me mate have you got the time?"

"I'm a protestant, nearly quarter to 4 mate"

"Forget this I'm off" {{{=zwwweeeeoooooooooommmmm

@Groucho if it had been built as per Lutyen’s design, it would have dwarfed the Anglican cathedral - St Paul’s cathedral could have fit inside it!

Could be worse, could be a vegan Protestant

I'd be very wary of planning a day off the beaten track if you're travelling by train. They can be expensive and not massively reliable even at the best of times. I'd keep your plans fairly simple while relying on public transport.

Maybe get one of your Edinburgh friends to drive you out somewhere - absolutely stunning countryside all over Scotland.
