Howdy from America.

For years I have pledged that I would visit Goodison for a match when my finances evolved to allow it. Well, my financial situation has not changed, but I'm tired of waiting, so I've managed to sneak away from my family in France on Boxing Day for the match against Stoke. Properly excited.

Here are some things I'd like to know:

1 - I'm flying into Manchester. I arrive at 7:45. How should I get to Liverpool cheaply, and if possible, efficiently?

2 - What should I do before the match?

3 - My flight will be out of John Lennon Airport the next morning at 7:20. I am thinking I might just try to crash out the airport rather than spring for a hostel room that I'll need to vacate by 5:30 anyway. Does that sound feasible? On a related note, how late do pubs stay open over there? :pint2:

4 - Can anyone recommend a good Scouse language program a la Rosetta Stone? I'd like to learn some key phrases. :D

Cheers!

1- Get the train from Manchester Airport to Liverpool Lime Street. From there you can either get a taxi or just walk around the town centre for a bit and get the No.27 bus from Liverpool One bus station. It's usually full of evertonians about an hour or so before kick off so just get off when they do and follow everyone else.

2- Walk around, take in the match day atmosphere, get a program to remember and that. There are a few pubs around the area. I usually go the Winslow It's packed but it's decent.

3- You're probably best just crashing at the airport as I'm not sure whether there's anywhere cheap around John Lennon.

4- Too many too count. Just say "Koff Osman" and "Come on Everton these are sh*te" and you'll be sorted. :p

Forgot prices sorry.

Fare to Liverpool Lime Street is just under £15.
Taxi from town would be about £7-8 i'm guessing depending on if you get a sound driver or some red sh*te who takes you round the world because you're not familiar with the area.
Bus fare if you do that is £2.10

You could actually just stay in a pub until you need to, as a fair few bars or clubs are open till 7am or beyond. However, then I doubt you'll fly.
