Bristol Blue

Player Valuation: £15m
So, I’ve had the radio on and a band called Blind Melon were being played. It made me think, they were the first band I ever saw live when they supported Guns N Roses in 1993.
So thought I’d start a thread for the gig goers on the forum to post the first gig and last gig that they went to. Include any support acts if you can remember.
Here’s mine-

First gig - Milton Keynes bowl - May 1993
Guns N Roses
The Cult
Soul Asylum
Blind melon

Last gig - Bristol Downs - September 2021
Idles
Heavy Lungs
TV Priest

First was in St Andrews in 1988... headlined by Marillion (Fish's last show with them), and I remember seeing Runrig & Jack Bruce on the same bill.

Struggling to think what the most "recent" one was - it may have been Francis Cabrel at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018, as I can't think of any between then and the pandemic starting.

Very jealous that you got to see Blind Melon - Their 'Soup' album is criminally underrated and the passing of Shannon Hoon was far too soon

Weirdly my first gig was also at Milton Keynes Bowl a month after you - June 1993

Metallica
Megadeth
The Almighty (originally supposed to be Alice in Chains but they cancelled)
Diamond Head

Last gig - Manchester Albert Hall - November 2021

Rina Sawayama
Hana

What a start that is! Been on a heavy Marillion kick recently

My first was Grant Lee Buffalo in Mountford Hall, must have been 1993 as it was the Fuzzy tour.

I got my ticket signed by the band but not Grant Lee Phillips himself which always annoyed me. Not his fault he just wasn't around.

Fast forward to his gig in the Phil in 2018 where I managed to get him to sign my ticket completing the set after 25 years. He talked with me for a while, lovely bloke.

I think my last one was Jack White at the M&S Arena Exhibition Centre. Was really good, did loads of stuff from his various projects.

May as well throw my next one in too (thus far) Poppy at the Manchester Apollo in November which has been rescheduled twice already due to Covid. Fingers crossed this time...

Being young I don’t think i really appreciated it at the time, I was just looking forward to them playing No Rain.

Just remember getting back home and wanting to buy everything that The Cult had released.

You must have been gutted that Alice in Chains cancelled?

Now at the Ritz i think? Lucky you, because it's a well better venue than the dump that is the Apollo

My god - I've just seen that Soul Asylum was on that bill as well! Another massive underrated band who unfortunately I never got to see :(

Mate I was in bits at the time - Was 15 and absolutely loved AIC, I can still remember them making the announcement about it on the Rock show on the radio. Never got to see them with Layne but saw them a few years ago with William

First gig - Soundgarden supported by Tad 1994.

Last gig - either Electric Six or the Levellers (2019 pre-pandemic can't quite remember who was first).

God I miss gigs. I tend to go through phases of regularly and not at all, but the last couple of years properly made me just ignore live music as an option.
God, this is like memory lane this thread! I was at that gig as well - had tickets booked but they somehow got 'lost' by my friend. Had to stump up from a tout for the royal sum of 20 English Pounds (think the original ticket price was £8?)
