I must say I don't really get this obsession with recession. After the banking bust there were widespread calls for the economy to be changed so it wasn't as reliant upon finance and property. That kind of shift isn't going to happen overnight, and would seem to require changes that would affect 'growth'.

If we become obsessed with achieving growth every month/quarter we get into the same short-term thinking that buggered the banks up. I know politicians rarely look beyond their term of office, but it would be a nice trait if for once some of them did wouldn't it?

Headlines it seems to me political parties seem so obsessed with them,if anything good news wise can be spun then by jiminy they'll spin it beyond all reason.

I agree with the rest of your points too we need a new way not a return to the tired old ways that got us in this mess in the first place,sadly we live in an age of political small fries we simply dont have the thinkers that could move us away from the broken system what we have is the same old same old a bit pathetic really.
