Here you can discuss anything related to the FIFA World Ranking. Good to see England at spot 4 out of 210.

Load of nonsense imo. I mean look at it, Belgium have done sod all and won nothing, going on a good run and scoring a few goals does not make you the best in the world. England certainly are not the 4th best team in the world, Spain, Germany and Portugal are all better than England yet are further down.
At the end of the day this has come via FIFA who without doubt one of the most dubious outfits in any industry.

Fun fact:

Roberto Martinez has taken Belgium to 3 consecutive World #1 ranking: 2018, 2019, 2020.

That's only bettered by Zagallo who led Brazil to #1 in the mid-1990s 4 times and del Bosque who led Spain to world #1 in 6 successive years between 2008-2013.

A fine achievement to get a no mark poxy nation like England to number 4 in the rankings, that’s essentially the same as getting a crap little club like Everton 72 points in a league season. Congratulations Gareth Southgate.

France won the world cup. All the other teams would trade that for being last on the list.
The status of being world ranked #1 is growing. It's like in tennis when players were only measured on grand slam wins until the ATP rankings were taken more seriously and revered. Of course, in tennis players would stil value a slam win over being number 1, but it is still coveted.

The funny thing about these are how skewed they are toward Europe and South America. Pretty middling national sides from Europe will be top 30 or 40 if they make the Euros. Just clicking a bit I've found that Slovakia was as high as 14. Anyone remember Slovakia being one of the best sides in the world? Just a pretty pointless exercise really.

Beg to differ mate. Being No1 means sod all. Being in the top ten means alot more as it helps with seedings in future comps and group stages.
