You can sort of understand them wanting to take the world cup to countries where football isn't as strong as it is here to promote it as the world's game but what was the point of hosting the world cup in Arabia's sandy pimple? Voting Qatar as the host just showed FIFA up as the farce they are when there is practically nowhere in Qatar outside of specialised facilities to play top quality football comfortably, I'll bet when the World Cup does kick off everyone will be complaining about how hot and dry it is just as much as they were blaming the ball at the last one and this time they're complaints will actually mean something.

Only way they could do it really. Start 2 weeks early and end 2 weeks later, maybe play a few more midweek games early on.
