I'll be joining the 21st century in June.

I watch zero telly and probably just download films and stream telly, what's virgin and BT like for this? I pay about £80 for sky and line rental and broadband currently.

I need a fast connection and loads of bandwidth.

ive got 50 meg broadband with virgin it does me/mrs and 2 daughters fine i watch alot of sport/films on it through stream torrent and usually its ace.

i pay £54 all in for xl tv package with tivo box and an extra hd box in another room, 50 meg bb and the small phone package.

i have looked at bt and their bb looks better as thier upload speeds loads better. (heard this is better for gameing).

my experience with virgin broadband is fantastic, not one problem and great speed... had it 3 years and think its stopped working about 3 times the whole time ive had it lol and just had to switch modem off/on to sort that out

was thinking of changing to sky for sky atlantic, but worried about the broadband being rubbish!

I'm currently with Sky Broadband and it's awful. I play on the PS4 with a few friends and it's just non-stop lag for me but perfect for everybody else when in the same game. Constantly cuts out and can take an hour or two to turn back on.

I don't think I can get Virgin where I am but BT Broadband looks completely milessss better than what Sky are providing me right now.

Is it fairly straight forward switching over and what not?

Swerve BT if you can. They make you use their Home Hubs which are gash and extremely intermittent with phones/tablets.

Bought a new router which works perfectly with them and can't get BT Sport on the TV because the router isn't a Home Hub.

I got Sky Fibre last year. A tenner a month for 6 months, £20 for the next 6, and half price line rental for the whole 12 months. I think it was linked into being a Sky Sports subscriber too.

Never had any problems with it, consistent speeds of about 28Mbps, which is a sight faster than the pitiful 3Mbps I was getting on Broadband. Unlimited too.

Virgin is superior in pretty much every way as they don't share the data connections (or whatever the technical term is) that BT, Sky use - along with any other company that use a line rental fee.

I hear LOads more complaints about BT and sky than about Virgin.

I like Branson too, Murdoch can KOFF.

Overall, the three big providers are all crap with customer service and each have their own special way of trying to screw you over.

If you're just interested in fast internet, get Virign. BT is alright, Sky is dreadful in comparison. Virgin tends to provide a speed closest to what you pay for.
