I currently get about 2.0 mb on standard BB with EE. Fibre BB is now available and have been offered a deal at 38.0 mb but for a few quid more 76.0 mb. Question is.... will there be a major difference between 38 and 76 ? Will be worth the extra? Cheers folks.

You won't get the full amount, normally there is a bit of a drop off depending on location etc

If the price is not too much extra and you stream and/or game online then it is worth it. If you just use it for general internet usage then not really worth it.

Also make sure the one you get is unlimited, otherwise they might cut you off.

Depends what you use the internet for and how many will be using it. Unless you sit downloading something 24hrs a day from a source that can send data that quickly, watching TV/videos over the internet will be the largest usage. Normal definition needs about 2MB, high def allow for 4MB (should be a bit less in reality) but we will call it 5MB for ease of calculations.

So if you have got internet TV, PS4, run 2 x tablets with you tube, to ensure you can run this I would allow 20MB, then allow a couple of MB for anything else that could be surfing the web at the same time, mobiles etc. and you should have more than enough.

Honestly you could probably get away with half that amount as everything won't be running full blast. If you have children and all their friends come over and start watching you tube separately on their devices, then kick them out! :)

38MB should be plenty for a standard family. As @Kenshin said it is more important to get unlimited access.

EE is unlimited and doesn't have traffic management, so 38 would be fine for everyday use.
Extra speed is it worth it ?
If you not downloading all-sorts not really just for browsing there is little difference but to be honest mate if it's only a few quid I would pay it if you have a few in the house using the net at the same time as the higher speeds tend to have better bandwidth for more devices.

You'll be suprised actually how little you use. The main benefit of going fibre apart from speed is what we call Latency. We need very low to zero latency when streaming things. Without getting Technical the internet I can assure you isn't full of Gigabytes of downloads only certain file types are. We compress the data down to the smallest it can be without impacting to you the end users. Depends on usage I normally use the 4mb rule be it per device or per user. But as above for gods sake if you can afford it get unlimited. I've got SKY Q and the little one has got addicted to it being able to download store data etc... Plus the PS4 updates are coming in thick and fast.

38mb will do most things so no - I went on 30mb then my isp provider without any cost upt it to 50mb not noticed any difference tbh cost nothing but no advantage
Try and strike a discount deal I did ;)

What the hell is going on here? UK ISP's squabbling over 38-75 Mbps????

Hell, here in backwards NZ we the minimum connection is now 100Mbps on fibre. They offer plans now, quite reasonably too, up to 1Gbps. It makes a hell of a difference if the content you are consuming is cached locally. Now akami, AWS, Google, Steam and Netflix all cache and peer here in Auckland, that 1Gbps makes a hell of a lot more sense than it did a year ago (when they closest peers for that lot were Sydney)

Now that fibre finally arrived in our village we've just changed from wet piece of string giving about 1.5M on a good day to fibre giving high 50'sM.......it's like a new world......
