Badly miss the Sunday Channel 4 Italian football shows from the 90s reading this.

GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAL

Another who always seemed a lot better than he actually was - Alvaro Recoba. I remember his debut for Inter, when he scored two absolute belters with his wand of a left foot. Sadly, he could be infuriating as often as he could brilliant.

To think, at one time Inter had Recoba, Ronaldo, Adriano and Vieri on their books, and they were still largely awful.

Recoba was so so so so so so so so so good. Those screamers you speak of were out of this world and happened every other week!

I'll just leave this name here:

Ruben Sosa.

Inter were a frustrating team around that time. So many good players that they never made the most of. I mean Pirlo was signed by Inter first off, and he was regarded back then as a del Piero/Baggio type of playmaker and was the big hope of Italian football. Suffice to say, back then, Inter were often terrible for attacking players. They had so much talent, yet never made the most of them.

As this appears to be a love in for players that played in the 90's I'll post here. Why did Ortega not become one of the best players of that generation?

Redondo was indeed a very good player. Instrumental in two of Real Madrid's Champions League-winning campaigns, he had a remarkable understanding with Raúl. Made difficult things look easy, but injuries took their toll. Even as an antimadridista, I loved watching him play.
