Basically cut a cyclist up tonight completely by accident. Long story short I manoeuvred quickly to make turn in traffic, saw him too late coming fast on the inside. Swerved to avoid him but he was going to fast to stop before he went onto the back of me. I called the ambulance etc. police took a statement and breathalysed me as is routine. They say they don't intend to prosecute as it was simply a driver error. Guy had pain in lower back and was taken to hospital as precaution. Just feel awful!

As you said mate, simple driver error. You'll never make the same mistake again.

Just thank God the boy wasn't seriously hurt.

Accidents happen mate. As bad as you feel, at least everyone is okay! Just bruised pride, have a beer and an early night, don't let it play on your mind.

I did the same a few weeks back. Came up to a roundabout, had a look right, saw nothing coming, and saw a car coming from the left indicating right so waited for him to turn, and from behind him came a cyclist from nowhere into the side of the car as i was pulling out, i broke so so quickly, said sorry in an inbetweeners style 'oooh, sorry, im so sorry.' and before i could see if he was okay he just cycled off. Hard [Poor language removed].

Had you not overtaken him or had he come from another direction?

like the car had turned round the roundabout to the lane next to me, the cyclist came from my right, from behind the car that was turning. He was coming from a different way. I was just edging out when he came at me.

Cheers guys, hopefully the bloke riding will be fine. Have to say the coppers were really sound with me.

simple mistake mate I'm sure nothing will come of it. If worst does come to worst i assume you were proper sound with coppers and apologetic as well as shook up which'll all have been noted by them,.

Mate, at least you've enough of a conscience to feel **** about it. Accidents happen and as Jock said, no bones broken.

Were you turning left and was he coming up on the inside of you?, in that case then surely it's his fault, get him to fix your car

Don't dwell on it mate, most people experience this at least once in their driving career, and just be thankful no real harm was done. You'll learn from it and not make the same mistake again. All the best.

Cheers guys, appreciate the support. Good news is the copper who dealt with it has just rung to let me know the guy has been discharged so no serious injuries and that they do not intend to take it any further in terms of police action. It did make me laugh when a woman ran up to the copper whilst I was stood next to him to report she had just seen a car speeding off in case it had been a hit and run! I just looked at her and said "its alright it was me".
