Nigerians on the whole, hate him. I can appreciate why, I instinctively take a dislike to players of his languid style. He does my head in at times and I think if you're honest, you'll say the same. Almost all of us at one point would have bemoaned a run Yakubu hasn't been arsed to make. But the lad is World Class when he can be arsed and he's in a side who can get that ball to him.

And you've gotta love his smile when he scores;

Not many teams can boast a player of his record. 21 in 39 games in his first season (according to Wiki). He lives for goals, you rarely hear him speak without mentioning scoring or a goal. If we can get him at his best, or even near to it next season - and have Jagielka and Heitinga commanding at the back, Fellaini doing his thing - Cahill/Pienaar/Arteta doing theirs - top four isn't that unreasonable.

If our late surge for Europe this season is to be successful, we'll need to feed him. He's not lazy. He's just waiting, waiting to unleash the fury.

lineker was lazy but i loved him
his composure in front of goal which really stands out for me.
player like aj would work hard but on a one to one never fancied him and his goal return showed that.
If i had the choice of 1 striker to have 1 chance in amatch it wold be the lazy shuffling yak

He really annoys me whenever I get to watch the team in Goodison. I remember the game against Newcastle a couple of seasons ago, we cleared a corner to the Yak, just inside our own half, he took a couple of really bad touches, all because he wasn't arsed running. One of their players nabbed it off him, swung in a cross and Steven Taylor scored. One lad behind me roared 'LAZY THAT, YAK' and he was dead right.

Can't argue with his goal-scoring record. Saying that, he's done nothing since he's returned from injury. For me's a distant second to Louis Saha at the moment.

To complain about his effort since he came back from an Achilles injury is short sighted. You won't see him back to his pre-injury self until next season. Achilles injuries are notoriously difficult to fully recover from and always take lots and lots of time.

The fact he is playing a year after the injury is great news, and it will take time.

Yak is a goal machine and when he is back and provided with the service, he will score tons of goals.

Agreed, Moyes has always said it'd take him a good while to get back to his best, probably next season. A good pre-season under his belt is exactly what he needs, you can tell by his build that he's a player that needs fitness and sharpness behind him. And to be honest, all strikers do.

There isn't a massive difference between him and Louis Saha, despite what people say, and Yakubu brings alot more to the game outside the box. In terms of link up play, he's easily the best striker at to the club. Even is he does overdo it a bit at times.

I'm not worried about him, it's not like he's lost anything, his game has never been about pace.

I was thinking the other day who the last colored player we had playing on a regular basis, or was featured often was before Earl Barrett, I can't remember any from around the time of Kendalls first time in charge up to Mike Walker.

I'm going to kick myself because there will surely be someone I've missed out, but there weren't too many faces while I was watching back then.

Yakubu, had a purple patch or two in the last few seasons, and has the ability, but too often let's supporters down, there were times when he could do with losing a little weight, but that's just my opinion.

Probably write off this season for the Yak. Only a bit part player. A full solid pre-season and hopefully , fingers and toes crossed he will be back to his best next season. It was a nasty injury & I was suprised to see him back so quickly to be honest.

Surprisengly he didn't start a game against Ghana, Martins replaced him as "9" today, with Odemwingle and Obasi as wingers.
