Same here mate. Happened to me right after 9/11. I get physically affected and wound up and I'm a mess...especially if I'm flying along. If I'm with a mate, it's not as bad. I have to take xanax for it. Alchohol doesn't help.

Yer tryed the getting drunk thing and it didnt help one bit

Flew back from Cyprus 3 days after the attacks, Didnt bother me one bit, God knows why I hate flying so much now

On a serious note Del, I've posted a link below

Worth looking at if nothing else. As others have mentioned, if you think you wont be able to fly then you can drive or get on the Euro Star. Only get on that plane if you feel comfortable in doing so. Underneath the banter, no one thinks any less of you for this. Everyone has something that they feel uneasy about or worry about. Flying just happens to be yours. It's just one of those things.

Thats not true mate. I think he's a massive girlpants.

I'd be more worried about the bloody French than the plane ride itself, can't stand them!

Spikes hair into foof look*

Best way to overcome a fear of flying......be on a cross-channel ferry in a force 9. Seriously.

Flown hundreds of thousands of miles with work and had a handful a bad flights...one in particular on an Embraer 145 from Lyon to Amsterdam in 140mph gusting winds....thought my time had come. Compare that to a force 9 2 weeks before the Zeebrugge disaster and I'd take it every day.

Boats in rough seas....**** me up. Couldn't go on one of them crab boats in the Bering Sea.

Hypnotherapy would work, it's an irrational 'phobia' so look for someone who helps cure phobias. Flying is a damn site safer than being in a car!

Serious?

Will look into it if so

Mad thing is I was in the RAF for 5 years

Haha...reminds of that scene in A Few Good Men where Lt. Caffey (Cruise) asks if they're going to be riding in a boat because he doesn't like boats to which Lt. Galloway (Moore) says "Jesus Caffey, you're in the Navy !!!"
