Favourite 'unplugged' and why

Oasis.

Liam not turning up, or at least turning up wires and throwing the v's at Noel

One's i love enough to own on DVD are:

Oasis - love the fact it's Noel singing
Nirvana - Reworking his and other people's songs brilliantly for the set
Godsmack - Like having such a heavy band brought down to acoustic
Alice in Chains - Layne is a god.

Neil Young, for the version of "Like a Hurricane".
Nirvana, because I love the cello and Kurt's vocal on "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" still gives me shivers. In fact, all the cover versions on it are pretty inspired.
Alice in Chains, because it really shows what a great vocallist Layne Staley was. I'm not a massive fan of them, particularly, I mean I think they're OK and I own a couple of records, but Layne's perfomance on there is special.

Oh ****, how could I forget Björk? Hers might be the pick of them, actually. Really makes an effort to do something different with her songs on this performance, and it's just beautiful.

1/ Stevie Ray Vaughan - did a heavily truncated MTV Unplugged set of 3 songs, all on 12 string, 2 are instrumental with soloing (on a 12)!

2/ Nirvana - not their biggest fan but love this album.

3/ Eric Clapton - again, excellent from start to finish.

10,000 Maniacs is the only one I ever took any notice of when MTV started doing them.

Don't know if you mean to restrict this to MTV un plugged sessions or just acoustic versions of songs but anyway I absolutley love this Wilie Nelson performance - just look at the awe on the faces of the many country legends on stage with him.

And while this isn't exactly an unplugged this is some pretty sensational acoustic guitar playing

Came on to say just this. The Meat Puppets covers are excellent too.
