I’m Australian (though I live in Malaysia at the moment).
The Saturday 3pm games often translates to 2am in Australian east coast. Back in the early days of following Everton, I’d sit up till 4am trying to listen to a radio stream of the game and following the ESPN text play by plays.
The early Saturday games would actually let me go to bed at a reasonable time of 1:30am.
Honestly the matches should be timed so that they occur over the Pacific Ocean between 12-6am. That way it’s actually at a reasonable time for the rest of the world, sorry to everyone living in the Pacific. I’d guess that would probably mean having the matches on 3 hours earlier, the early game should start at 9am. And wouldn’t that make much more sense, the game would be played in daylight rather than it being played in the dark by 4pm.
Also Australia is in the same time zone as China, that’s a huge audience.
