It has taken an age but they have eventually found Mr Moyes guilty of, basically, bring the game into disrepute following comments he made concerning the actions of referee Clattenburg in the derby game last year. Those comments, made by the Everton chief to the media accused Clattenburg of bias towards Liverpool FC, a very serious allegation that must warrant investigation. The decision announced yesterday made no mention of any investigation into the Moyes allegations, be they accurate or not, surely this has to be wrong if Clattenburg's name is to be cleared. How can an official continue in post having had his name dragged through the mire in this fashion. If no investigation has been made into the referees actions then God help us all as there is no hope for our great game and its long term credibility. What happens in future if a referee is known to be bent, no one can say anything, that has to be wrong and it has to be unhealthy.
When examining matters more closely the chances of Moyes being fined by the FA were remote because the basic facts of English common law would need to apply, the FA, as the charging body, had found him guilty before the case was heard. This has to be the correct conclusion otherwise why 'let him off' in this fashion in light of the allegations made? At no stage have the FA launched any investigation into Clattenburg's actions, at least not publicly, which is amazing. In how many walks of life would you see an official openly accused of corruption and no action taken about those charges whatsoever. something has had to have gone on behind the scenes.
The eventual decision to issue a warning to Moyes smacks of an arrangement on the lines of 'we will do this if you say no more' it is the only way the FA can save face. That said they now have an official who can no longer manage Everton games because of his percieved biased track record, one more bad decision and there would be a riot. We must never forget the consequences Clattenburg's decisions this term, he gave Liverpool a victory they never deserved, he even laughed when doing it. His decisions created a six point swing, three less to them, three more to us, if results had gone correctly so crucial at this time of year as the league table proves.
In my opinion the FA have gone to great lengths to save face over this matter, they have acted like people scared of the truth coming out, why wait this long to hear the case.
I just wonder if at long last we will be granted a penalty on Thursday night, am I being a cynic or am I just getting closer to the truth
