Sunderland afc

I have of course watched the mersyside derby many a time, and hear loads about how you don't hate each other the way we and the unclean lot up the road despise each other.

Hear how loads of families have Liverpool and Everton in them.

Is this all true?

When the horse punchers almost won the title in 96, I would have been distraught, thankfully they threw away a 12 point lead.

With you being a two club, city, do you actually get along the way the media say you do.

It used to be friendly in the aftermath of Hillsborough but since then it has got more poisonous every season

Nowhere near as true as it used to be. There are still mixed marriage families, but most Evertonians would be gutted if that lot won the title. Opinions on the internet tend to be a bit extreme so asking the question on here will make the hatred seem worse than it is in the real world though. Some Kopites are decent people, with a sound knowledge of the game and can see the faults in their own club, but a rising % are to quote @chicoazul "utter bells".

Shame really.

We used to. But as with all things involving that lot, it got spoilt a long while back.
These days, they claim we're all sound when we're in our "rightful place" below them. They've been absolute knobheads the last few seasons when we've finished above them.
Got loads on fb and twitter atm saying they're happy for us aiming for 4th. Patronising arseholes weren't like that the last two seasons

Its true about the families siding with both Everton or Liverpool, my missus is a Kopite. But friendly it is not, they are a deluded bunch of scruffs who believe they have some devine right to success ( a bit like those [Poor language removed] who are your rivals ). I've got Kopite mates who are sound because they know to not to chat turd if they don't want to get the absolute piss taken out of them by my good self.

Me and all my mum's side of the family are Evertonians and scouse, they moved down south cause granddad was in the navy and we live in Brighton now. Dad is from here and is a Liverpool fan. On derby day me and mum sit on one sofa, dad sits on the other, we don't say a word except celebrate (or cry which seems to be the case with us against them)

I still hate Liverpool though, and earlier when dad put you'll never walk alone on full volume, I left the room. ain't having that.

COYB.

Its sadly getting worse.

I have plenty of close mates and family who are kopites and I love dearly. Hence why I don't use the word hate when referring to them, its too strong.

We take the piss constantly just about fine, but their out of town beauts are a stain on the city. They try too hard to overcome their guilt at glory-hunting by hating der bitterz and sour the whole thing.

Throw in the internet creating partisanship and the MERSEYSIDE MERSEYSIDE days are long gone. If they win this title and start gloating and patronising us as they usually do then its only going to make things worse.

tl:dr - Chelsea have to win the title or the Beatles and humanity itself shall weep.

The bit about mixed families is. But the internet has, imo, amplified the natural tensions between rival clubs.

But the internet has also amplified the differences between the two sets of supporters.

Exhibit A. RAWK.
Exhibit B. GOT.

I've heard theories about it being called the friendly derby because it was because supporters of both teams shared a city making it more likely you had friends and family members that supported the other side.
That way it would be different from Newcastle and Sunderland as they're different cities I suppose.
Not sure if that's a good explanation though as I'm sure Spurs and Arsenal fans would be 'mixed' in a similar way but that derby would never be considered friendly.

Growing up I had 5 teams I wanted to do crap

Newcastle - obvious reasons
Celtic - family in Scotland who are all rangers fans
Leeds - mother hated them and guess it rubbed off
Real - auntie got me loads of Barca stuff when I was a kid so became a follower of Barca

And

Liverpool - I despised them as much as Newcastle. Often said that if it was a Newcastle v Liverpool cup final, I may just want Newcastle to win.

However, I've not minded them so much this season, maybe because of mig and Henderson.

In saying that the way media go on if they win it means ha'way man city.
