If we lived to be a 1000 we would not see the end of government as it stands in its present form, people are fools and frankly we generally need to be told what to do,yes no doubt in this thread a few of you will say nay but ultimetly its crap just as in work, school, sex,(think about it) indeed anything we do in our lives we have to,at the very least once be told what to do and in its rawest form this is what parliments do.

I think a layer of governance should be removed,i.e. local councils etc and everything should be central as it stands theres far too many fiefdoms in local councils thats the only change i could see happening tbh.

Muggins, some interesting posts the point about Facebook is interesting as well, the founder is a billionaire is he not? so your point about them not being interested in money only info i think isnt as clear cut becuase having access to info gives them more money just like MS and google before them its all about having a measure of control over the info they have but more importantly i'm sure the money that info allows them to ultimately access by with selling it directly or indirectly,i just dont see that changing to be honest unless of course we go back to bartering with goats etc

Do me a favour. Brown was quite happy letting an unregulated city bring in all that lovely tax revenue to fund his state expansion.

A couple more years of Labour government and we'd have all been in sackcloth and ashes.
Why would we have been in sackcloth and ashes? or have you swallowed the tory party line about the country being bust?

NATIONAL DEBT????

WHAT NATIONAL DEBT?

The more powerful the internet becomes, the more massive corporations try and harness that power for their own gain. Facebook being one of the largest harvesters of information available. I'm sure they count people and not money. Where one goes, the other follows. Commodity's for corporations are changing.

I wouldn't say they are "not interested in money", but that they know money and people go hand in hand, so it's easier to count the people (data) knowing the money will follow...

Agree with you on it not changing anytime soon. It just astounds me at how many people do not question the simplest of things though...

Best place I ever spent time was a socialist country, nicest people and still a sense of community.

Every man for himself encourages greed and profiteering for companies that really don't give two f*cks about the well being of you or your family.

In short: if you're not Partisani then you're a bad dirty capitalist pigdog, and a kopite.

The first act of the Golden Peoples Republic will be to exterminate all cookie monsters

the country always will have a level of debt simple as that yes it's bigger than normal, but these have been exceptional times something that last happened in the 1930's and thankfully we had those pesky jerries to help us out in returning the country to full employment after a depression.

There was even debt back when the tories left office back in '97 and that was after all that frenzied privatization that had gone on.
