Fair play to Celtic

A great gesture from a great football club.

And it touches on a point I made on another thread just the other day.

These days it is out if the question for a person getting by on dole money to go to a top class football match because of the admission price.

But back in the 70s and 80s when I had a couple of periods of unemployment, going to Goodison was still affordable albeit there wasn't much dough for a bit if a bevy before the game.

Anything that helps fans get to see a game when they otherwise couldn't afford it is laudible. Steven Naismith has set a template for this by his actions in many areas of giving. Youre right about the 70s...austere miserable times, 3 day week etc when most people were hard up. But a bevvy and the game was still mostly within reach. Now for a lot of people, its no longer a toss up regards the match...bills, food, kids clothes so no contest. I feel sorry for men and women who end up on their own raising kids yet still trying to be everything to them and take them the match....at least our club does appreciate that I guess which is something amidst all the greed.

I can't stand Celtic FC. Like the guy above says, I hope they go bust.

Depressing team, depressing league, depressing city and a depressing kit.

Oh and they sing YNWA. Yuck.

Ignorant rubbish to call the Club sectarian - though a number of their fans clearly are. The Club was employing Protestant, players and managers in the forties and fifties ... only a few years after EFC fans stopped singing The Soldiers Song.

They also sing It's A Grand Old Team.

Would be great if we were to meet Celtic in Warsaw for the EL final.

The Glasgow Paddies and the Liverpool Irish having a right old knees up and It's A Grand Old Team ringing out from every bugger in the ground ;)

Sweet jesus, i could only imagine it " I'm more faux irish than you, i have all of Daniel O'Donnell CD's "
