The Arsenal v Stoke was 19th April 1972 gunners won 2-1. I had a soft spot for Arsenal at the time probably because they beat the RS the year before. .

If Wikipedia is correct the first FA Cup tie at Goodison was January 21st 1893. We beat West Brom 4-1 that day and eventually lost the final to Wolves.

The history books will also record February 8th 2025 as the day of the final FA Cup tie at Goodison. With Bournemouth of course beating us 2-0.

Bit of a sad, miserable and depressing end to the era of FA Cup games at Goodison.

Given where we are as a club today's exit was spot on. This isn't a Hollywood Blockbuster with a happy ending - it's just us sinking from one to the next. A comfortable win for Bournemouth is how we should've all seen it coming.

I think it was the Knowsley cup tie I had in my mind. Getting old and creating memories of stuff that never happened.
