The rain, it raineth every day
Thought I'd start a specific thread.

The torrent of disgust expressed throughout the Football League, and Non League, regarding the proposed ditching of replays, notwithstanding the Final now not being the final game of the season, is wholly justified. To misquote Oscar Wilde : the Premier League knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing. The oligarchy running football should just bugger off.

Just a couple of statements, amongst many made today.

Not sure why they tinkered with it tbh. The first few rounds the CL clubs should breeze with their second strings if they perform to their levels. If they don't and need a replay at home against a minnow then that's down to them.

At least having the games at the weekend is a good thing, so they get a +1 for that. Still want the cup final to be the last game of the season, kick off at 3.00pm though and until that happens modern football is sh....

Another nail in the coffin of "elite" football for me.

The joy of the FA Cup is seeing Maidstone, Marine, Burton, Lincoln make runs and transform their whole entire club.

The FA Cup for me isn't about the big 6, who are clearly the sides pushing for replays to be scrapped, Guardiola & Klopp both moaned repeatedly about this.

If they're so uninterested in replays due to congestion; perhaps they can refuse to play an extra 2 games in the CL from next season? Maybe they'd consider not entering the Cup so others who are interested can win it?

As you say you would assume that it's the so called big six calling for it.
There has only been one big 6 club involved in a replay this season and that was Chelsea in the 3rd round .Chelsea haven't even been in Europe this season so it hasn't really effected them.
The greed at the top is disgusting .I for one was delighted to see 4 out 5 premier league clubs going out of Europe dispite it being the best league in the world.
It's not the best it's just the richest there is a difference.

It's no coincidence, Paul, that from next season participants in both the Champions League and the Europa League will have two group games in January. Which means should they make the 5th round and had to play replays an extra 6 games in January would be played. I didn't see many objections to the expanded European Format though, what a shock.

Traditionally, you'd expect at least 5 of the so called "big 6", to at least make Europe, so it's going to directly affect them, whereas the remaining 86 sides won't be faced with the same issues.
