FA Cup 3rd round draw - Carlisle at home

Carlisle probably cost Everton the league that season

if i recall Everton were 2 up at half time at home and lost 3-2 and turned in a shocker at Brunton park losing 3-0 when Carlisle were effectively doomed

oh the pain

The Carlisle United forum pages were a hive of activity when the draw was made, this is the biggest news they have had since that goalkeeper scored for them in the sixth minute of added time a few years ago to keep them in the football league.

Surely the boys and Moyes can't make a mess of this one, Shrewsbury was only six years ago, but that was at their own little arena, home advantage dictates this already a done deal.

Bit soon after new year damn it.

2nd January, I may well still be face down in a bowl of Captain Morgan while Yakubu is warming up on the touchline, couldn't they have made it a bit longer after new year.

and why do Chelsea always get a home draw against lower league opposition in the 3rd round, something fishy about this draw crap each year.

Arsenal vs West Ham tie of the round I think, 30 years on from meeting in the final, don't know where the time goes to.

This brings back memories of a trip to Brunton Park in 1968, I think, to play them in the cup. We won (can't recall the score) and the game was unremarkable.

I can only remember one incident from the game - Bally seemed to beat every player they had and bore down on goal before shooting two feet wide. Wilf Dixon was on the deadball line having just been on, trapped it, controlled it as sweet as you like...

Even in our present form, we should have no problems here, surely...

no doubt the fa will be sticking their oar in, expecting a sell-out and expecting us to pay as much for this game as yesterdays derby to increase their profits from the gate.

we dont have memories as short as they think and having missed out on a cup final ticket due to their allocation policy, i urge Everton to charge an admission price that will give the fa as little money from the tie as possible. a lot of noise was made by the club at the time so now's the time for them to get a bit of retribution.

charge as little as possible Everton so the fa get sweet fa.

not bad prices tbh, but i still think they shouldve reduced it so the f.a. get feck all out of it.

adults £10 kids £5, wouldve been a bold statement to make. i know they still have to pay the players, but say we got knocked out they would still have to pay them on the weekend of the 4th rd. and they wouldnt be playing.
it should be all about sticking 2 fingers up at the f.a. this one.

Can't go wrong with this fixture, would of prefered away, it makes it that little more interesting, don't want to be sitting watching From Russia with Love on boxing day with some cheese sticks and a bottle of guinness thinking 'Home to Carlisle, could of been a little more fun'

Do you see what I'm getting at, should of learnt my lesson after Shrewsbury really, but it is a little 'too' straight forward.

Incidentally are'nt we still the last club to reach FA cup finals in three successive years, (84-86), it hasn't been repeated since I don't believe.

Quite pleased with that.

The last time we played them at home they won if I remember correctly, chickens before they hatch is a dangerous pasttime mate
