Condolences on the loss of your mate.

That ball bloody brilliant. I think @Joey66 was a ball boy that day so he might help with some names. Failing that, contact the Everton heritage society.

So sad for the loss - I was only born in 1955.... an eventful year My late father went every week a momentous decade Giant Killers in the FA CUP & promotion back to the big time ;)

Is it any wonder Dementia & Alzheimers was about with a case ball like that - with Dubbin slapped on as a leather protector - I did play with a laced case ball from aged 5 years old onwards heading the ball if you were unfortunate to head the laced part of the Cassie ball you seen stars .....& had a mark on your forehead -

On subject, I could not recognise the signatures on the photos, but two Jimmys one may have been Jimmy Harris ... other oldies may help ;)

….my initial thoughts are the identifiable names don’t particularly tally with the ‘33 Final. Looks to me like there’s a George, Roy/Ray and a Frank none of those Christian names align with either side in ‘33.

Actually looked like Jimmy Gabriel and Ray Wilson but that doesn’t tally with the ball being given in 1950s.

Also, reading and writing in ‘33 wasn’t as it is today, some of those signatures look quite fancy. Might be wrong, i think it needs proper research.

….my guess is that ‘Cup Final’ on the ball could be a distraction. It could be just an autographed football. in the early 60s Everton had a few players who’s names could tally with those signatures;

Jimmy Gabriel
Ray Veal
Micky Lill
Frank Wignall
George Thomson (without a ‘p’, I think he was signed with Alex Young).

Sadly, I don’t think it relates to 1933, i suggest it’s a signed Everton football from early 60s.

You might want to enquire about how to store the ball in order to maintain its condition as best as possible.

I'd be tempted to see if I could loan it to a collection so that it can be enjoyed by many, but up to you of course

Frank Wignall is definitely there as Jimmy Gabriel - Frank joined us early 1963, so you are correct @Eggs -

5 years younger than you Joey but yeah I remember playing with and dreading heading a ball like that .

It was the weight of the think that I remember especially when it got wet
