FA considering retrospective diving bans

Great idea and just what the game needs.

Most of the objections I read are from Millennials who watch too much foreign football and obsess over greasy footballers diving to get opposition sent off as though it's acceptable. I can only deduct these zero hour contract deserving wastrels are too absorbed in their WWE - the box room dwelling virgins - and want some of the crap acting to cross over into football.

Shut up and watch the game lads. No one is arsed that you can grow a beard or that you've got a pikacho in your sleeve tattoo you weird little lazy gremlins.

tirelessly emulating your crotchety uncle, despite being born in the 80s.

got me to chortle.

See Big Sam is voicing his disapproval. Obviously condones cheating, the big oaf.

Look, I get that cheating is (sadly) part of everyday sport - and impossible to eradicate completely but something has to be done, tried to act as a deterrent. I all for this.

I posted in the Rotterdam Anniversary thread that it was so refreshing, and fun to watch that final from 1985 (other than for the obvious reasons) because when someone got tackled, they got up, brushed themselves off and carried on. The game flowed perfectly. hardly any stoppages and absolute minimal time added on at the end of each half! Good old tussles, hard tackling (the ball) and shoulder barges aplenty. The game has dramatically changed for the worse over the last 30 or so years, and the play acting, faking injury and contact, cheating - they are all a big factor in that change.
Big Sam voiced his disapproval ( as did a number of other managers) as to how this would be implemented and managed consistently. Not sure how that "obviously condones cheating".

Its really not hard to determine if someone dived. The MLS does this and it works fine.

I also guess this means Geri isn't coming back.

I also to expect Niasse to eventually get suspended for just being a clutz.

i presume the poster didn't watch his interview, because when i first read the title i thought allardyce was being stupid, but when i watched it i totally understood his point. i want instant video technology brought in as much as anybody and he is right. I read above that it's only going to relate to red cards and penalties, why? i mean, come on, that's absurd. Teams score free kicks all the time, why is it stopping there? look at how much money is in football, they can easily pay someone to sit there and note down every single dive in a match and ban them all? That's how we're going to eradicate it. Bringing in "yellow cards" (which has now actually stopped happening for the majority of dives) didn't get rid of it, so this isn't either. I bet players will only get fines at the end of it all anyway. The FA lacks serious balls, i think mainly because they think all the better foreigners will go elsewhere if they're too harsh. But i just want a fair contest at the end of the day and to actually fall back in love with football.
