Experience Key For Rodwell

Supposed interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, being given the captaincy for England U-19s and Jamie Carragher saying he'd love him at Liverpool aside...I'm still not convinced that Rodders is a can't-miss prospect. Seems to have a good head on him and could develop into a good ball winner, but his passing is never adventurous and his positional play looks suspect at times, we usually lose our shape for the first 10 minutes that he's on the field.

His age and the endorsements I listed above are enough for me to keep faith though.

We said the same thing about Fellaini - and he´s 21. Given 3 more years, he will be CLASS!

Positioning comes with experience. His passing isnt going to be adventurous for a DM who's there to break up play, support the midfield and distribute to a blue shirt. They should improve.

But the encouragement is always that he's playing top flight football and doesnt look out of place in a top 6 team. Same with Gosling.

Agreed. Rodwell, Gosling, and even Fellaini are nowhere near the finished article, and it would be churlish to suggest that they are. But they are all doing well in a top 6 team, and have improved immensely over the season. Vaughan is still only 21. Jo is 21 (should be manage to sign him).

Next year they all be better and pushing the likes of Arteta and Cahill even harder. And if they can be joined by Baxter or Mustafi then so much the better.

Time will tell of course and he is young. Not many players come on the field at that age and wow folk unless your name is Rooney for example..

He is not excellent imo. He's reading of the game, offensively and decision making is still very raw. I'm sure we have seen many better players at 18 years old.
I'm not saying we should sell him, put him in reserve etc. I'm saying he has a lot of room for improvement.

This is got to be a wind up?
His reading of the game is fantastic. Watch him at corners and see what i mean. He does not stop looking around and watching what is going on around him. He will be a class act in a year or two. Like he says, experience is the key for him.
