Bowie, Nirvana, REM, Manic Street Preachers, Marvin Gaye amongst others. I strongly believe REM's New Adventure in Hi Fi is one of the best albums in history.

I like a lot of R.E.M.'s stuff but lost interest after Automatic for the people. I still like their early stuff, Green is my favourite album.
I love David Bowie, probably between him and Michael Jackson for my favourite male single artist ever.

You can't really compare the two albums. The Stones' Exile is a classic pile of rock/blues which is what they did best. The White Album was a mix of different musical styles and contained, at the time, completely original material. I like them both equally.

For what it's worth I've always seen The Stones as a blues band whereas The Beatles carried more than a touch of the old music hall.

Never been a Stones fan, bar from the odd song or two from Forty Licks...

I think The White Album is my 2nd favourite Beatles record; Martha My Dear has been my favourite Beatles track for moons.

That's the thing about Exile, though - it isn't a collection of songs, it's a feel. I don't even know the titles of most of the songs. In that sense, it is very like The White Album. It needs to be viewed as a whole for it to completely work. The sequencing on The White Album is genius.
