The orthodox thought on this would no doubt be that we've failed to do much since the new year. However, if we look at a comparison of our form with the top 8 in the PL at the moment you might be surprised to learn that our form holds up well.
Using results in all competitions we are only surpassed by one out of the top eight teams in terms of wins as a proportion of games played (which vary from the lowest total of 12 played by Leicester to the 19 played by Liverpool, but average at around 15/16 games). West Ham's form is better than ours, but not the others. And the possible objection that two of our wins have come against lower league opposition is rebutted with the fact that wins registered by top eight clubs against this level of opponent is also a feature of their win form...for example, Arsenal with Burnley and Hull; West Ham with Wolves and B'burn; United with Sheffield, Derby and Shrewsbury.
West Ham
Played 14 won 9 (>64%)
Everton
Played 15 won 8 (>53%)
Spurs
Played 17 won 9 (<53%)
City
Played 17 won 9 (<53%)
United
Played 17 won 9 (<53%)
Leicester
Played 12 won 6 (50%)
Liverpool
Played 19 won 8 (42%)
Arsenal
Played 15 won 6 (40%)
All told, this places our recent form in context and presages well for the remainder of the season. The home league form has been allowed to take the front seat in terms of framing how well we're doing currently but there's a lot more to our season than that.
