Bit silly that Felli didn't win it, I guess he couldn't make the presentation.
Don't get me wrong, Donovan has been great for us and I'd love for him to stay, but Felli, Baines, Cahill would have got it before him for me.

How does this help our reputation as a great team in the eyes of Americans though?
I can just imagine the American press. Our boy joins 'so called best league in the world' and proves to be the best player they have?

No need to worry about that. Americans are thrilled.

Our football insecurities are far far greater than yours.

Are our insecurities that much greater? I think the general audience is more apathetic. For the small population that is aware of the Donovan move...and cares...sure, but the rest of the public...not so much.

Donovan's Deserving

Donovan's played well, so why not. Afterall, the fans made the choice. Evidently, they/we like the guy. Congrats to Landon.

Best had be :@

No way should big Mo have gone unrewarded, just as no way should Cahill and Osman have been given the captaincies at the time they received them.

Isn't it time our club became less see through in these matters?

Time to reward those who deserve reward most?
Contrary to popular belief, American soccer fans aren't stupid. In fact they must have a better grasp to make the effort to buck the normal American trend and follow soccer in the first place.

we're very aware of the politics behind all this. (y)

I agree that politics play a role. It is true however that the other players mentioned have been at Everton all along. Perhaps somebody noticed that the addition of Donovan has meant 5 wins in eight matches rather than 5 wins in 20 prior to his arrival.

Just a thought.

Never thought of it like that!
