Just listening to Radio Merseyside talking about penalty takers and how successful players have been past and present.

Even though I went home and away on the 80's, I always had it in my mind that Sheedy was the penalty taker but it said Tricky Trevor had taken 23 and missed 6. I'm struggling to remember one now thinking about it. I remember we got the odd dodgy one at home but certainly none in the bigger games.

With Bainesy scoring a dozen after Sunday, it begs the question, if you had to rely on one Everton player past and present to knock home the winner it the last minute from the spot, who'd it be?

David Unsworth - He was a beast from the penalty spot.

I may be completely wrong in my memory but I think his record was something like 22 from 23 and the one he missed he scored from the rebound.

...Roy Vernon in the 60s. I suspect he had a very decent record.
Missed one at the old Main road ground I think, he was known to tell the goalie where he was going to place it, like against United in the Charity Shield he placed the 1st inside Gaskills right post, had to retake it, same again, 3rd attempt Gaskills asked Royston where he was going to put it ? And he replied same place, and did so, real character was Royston.

Didn't Unsworth only ever miss one, and even that was scored on the rebound?
