Yet people are attributing at least a sliver of Leicester's success to their fitness and lack of injuries. I'm not saying they are closely related, but there is a link.

This table from the BBC in January (albeit slightly different in form) also has Newcastle top, or in this case bottom.

They might have had less injuries than other clubs but they have been more severe (i.e. Krul) so they probably aren't the best marker.
The figures at Everton are skewed . This season we have had Hibbert, Pienaar out for the entire season just about. Gibson was unavailable for a while as was Oviedo.

Apart from those I would say that our injury situation has been no better or worse than anybody else.

That table suggests to me that we've had a number of players that have been injured a whole lot. When you consider that this will include the likes of Hibbert, Pienaar and Gibson who are far from fundamental to our success and I question how big a factor it's really been.

Completely agree, our figure is inflated by players who don't play very often even when they're fit. Probably the real number is half that and includes the legitimate injuries to Baines, McCarthy and a few others.

Leicester are implicated in a drug scandal. I don't for a second believe all the nonsense of Ranieris training regime. Something dodgy has gone on. This is a club that is still being investigated for driving a coach and horses through FFP rules and boosting wage levels beyond what they could do under the rules. They are capable of doing anything.

You get accidents in football, collisions that cause injuries that can't be avoided. But even then if your body is right it will react quicker to the treatment and recover faster. I don't believe in soft-tissue injuries. If you get a soft-tissue injury in football, a mistake has been made. It could be the training programme, a lifestyle problem. Whatever it is, it will be a mistake.

There have been around 20 instances of players suffering a soft tissue injury since Martinez took over in the summer of 2013, with James McCarthy the latest absentee. Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka and Kevin Mirallas have also suffered the same setback.

Martinez says it is not only the original injuries but recurrences that are disturbing him. The head of the Goodison medical department, Danny Donachie, quit before Christmas and Martinez will bring in staff to assist the new appointment, Matt Connery.

“There are reasons for these injuries and it’s really important to find out why,” said Martinez. “It worries me the number of players who got re-injured and that’s something we need to address. We need to get down to the detail of why that is happening.

“When you injure the right hamstring you’ve got a bigger chance of injuring the left hamstring and that pattern is worrying. So we have to find out why that is happening, but I’m quite confident that we will get to the bottom of it.

Well well well this is a new one on me.

Surely they'll be fined for FFP breaches though. Bournemouth have just been fined for it too.

Game time lost due to niggley "injuries" usually reflects morale and whether the players are on board with the manager.

....I've expressed my insight into this, 'Everton have really good facilities and equipment but unfortunately nobody truly knows how to use them'. I doubt we'll see an improvement until the Club Doctor is replaced by somebody innovative and forward looking. The Club Doctor sets the strategy and ours is very much 'old school' and part of a bygone era.
Was coming in here to say this. I think it's even said our facilities are world class.

And, honestly, you CAN blame Martinez for SOME of this. Our fitness has never looked worse which can only contribute to injuries.
