Now that Mclaren has gone, will our england players still get picked?

I think AJ's days are numbered if his form doesnt return. He clearly impressed mclaren as even when he was out of form he was still being linked with the squad, but now with a new manager he'll have to at least return to his early everton days form to even get a look in.

Lescott, while always impressing us at club level, he's not really received rave reviews from non-evertonians at england level. However his form is good enough for us for him to keep being linked.

What do you guys think?

I think at the moment englands attacking options are not great so if aj and vaughnie are playing and scoring they have every chance of being in the mix.
I don,t think neville is good enough to be honest but if baines and lescott are playing well they are sure to be there or thereabouts.

Pretty much agree with what you are saying AJ need to be on form if he is to get back into England, while Lescott is in better position at the moment!

Look at this article talking about what news paper say about Lescott and his performance in the England match!

I've seen the the match myself and Lescott has done nothing wrong and has clear couple of danger throughout the match, not the best performance from him but certainly good enough, and weakest link in the defence is Bridge he was awlful to be honest, they were all over him if the midfield didn't come back and support him, he did let the ball get cross in all the time, not to mention he was the one play them on-side for the 2nd goal!

Rather than saying it's the defence fault, the midfield in the first half was awlful, losing the ball too often, no effort in getting the second ball, they were the one to blame for the pressure the defence has to cope with!

oh, Carson was to blame on the first goal, that was a non-pro effort in stopping the ball, he was to blame for the goal, and to be honest the 3rd goal he set too deep!

As the article say can't believe they are trying to blame Lescott!

I'd forgot about Neville, yeah agree there he should be no-where near the england team, especialy not on his current form.

As for Baines and Vaughan, I think you have to be an Evertonian to link them with england right now, no-one else has linked those to the squad other than us to be honest. Its too soon for Vaughan anyway, he needs at least a season of full time football under his belt before anyone talks about england for him.

Yeah vaughnie needs to stay fit but if he does and gets a run in the team he will be ready and his desire and passion will embarrass a lot of them from last night.
Baines is second to ashley cole imo i mean bridge was awful last night and shorey has had a dodgy season so far but i know what you are saying

personnaly I hope none of them ever play for England, Lescott, Neville & AJ have been capped, I'm sure thats very nice for them, but how much do the majority of that England squad really care? when have you seen gerrard play for England like he does for the [Poor language removed]? they are a bunch of prima dona's and are so far up their own arse it's not real.

have you heard the press conferences from gerrard, ferdinand, ashley cole, terry, beckham etc?

they've been told for year that they are the "golden generation" and they really belive it, [Poor language removed] the results

as Joey Barton said what did they write in their books "I went to the world cup and played [Poor language removed]?"

[Poor language removed] em!

I fully agree with you about Baines, but we all know that english managers historically pretty much always pick from the big teams. Lets hope the new boss picks more on form rather than club and transfer fee.

Yep well they wont be remembered as the golden generation now, rather the generation that failed miserably to qualify for a major tournament. Your right though, so many of them are writing their autobiographies (under 30, your [Poor language removed] kidding me, what a joke) and earning so much money, do we really believe them when they say they are heartbroken about not qualifying anymore?

Many of them just dont have the desire anymore, its as simple as that really.

You have a point an england cap does not seem to mean much to some players now drop the wasters and put the kids in.
Give the likes of reo coker, young, parker and agbonlahor a chance

some of them deserve a chance, but to be in honest were just not good enough, only Joe Cole in the midfield doesnt treat the ball as if it's a feckin hand grenade

In my opinion anyone who thinks that JV is ready or anywhere near being ready for England, you need your head testing ! The lad hasnt even played a run of 10 games in the premier league. We have a good enough selection of players at international level that is plain to see, they just need coaching properly.

I think Nevilles international career is over, Johnson will have to find some sort of form and quick. If bridge was anythin to go by last night then Baines will be in the next squad :D . Lescott will mature into a top international centre half (thats if that smack head from across the park doesnt come out of his international retirement, because no doubt he would go above lescott in the pecking order). Vaughan we will just have to wait and see with, he might turn out to be a top striker, but wasnt jeffers gonna be as well :dodgy:

Pretty much a fair assessment.

I hope none of our players get selected for England, surely you can see why I dont support England now. Blue in Brazil summed it up for me, bad teds the lot of them. None worse than the media.
