Everton's British core

Player Valuation: £8m
Let me start by saying this isn't a wind up, it's just something I thought could be opened for discussion.

A lot was made in the media last summer over how poor England's World Cup was, and how flooding the PL with foreigners is preventing English/British talent coming through.

Everton have our fair share of British players (Baines, Jagielka, Stones, Garbutt, Barkley, Barry, Osman, Naismith, now Cleverley). Add to this our Republic of Ireland contingent, such as Coleman, McCarthy, McGeady and Gibson, and a few promising British youngsters who may make the first team squad regularly soon.

Firstly, do you think it's important we maintain a strong core of British players, or would you be ok with 8 or 9 foreigners in our first team regularly ?

Secondly, of those British players who currently get into our starting XI, are they better than what we could get for cheaper on the foreign market?

Unless we buy them young or they come through the ranks, British/English players usually come at premium prices just because of their nationality, but is it worth paying over the odds for them just for the sake of buying English players?

Thats why we're [Poor language removed], too many british players
Don't know if you are taking the mickey or not, but I have been saying this all season. Apart from talent issues, Roberto can't be asking cheapish, average British footballers to play a technical, continental passing game. Not up to it. His future at Everton will depend on the quality of international signings he makes...and the quality of scouting at Everton.
