As some of you will know all Premier League clubs must register a squad of 25 players on September 1st this season.

Eight players in every team must be home grown, meaning they must have been trained in the country for three years before they were 21.

This leaves teams like City and Chelsea in a lot of bother as some of you may have read, but I just wondered where it leaves us.

Goalkeepers: Howard, Mucha, Turner = 3

Defenders: Hibbert, Baines, Yobo, Heitinga, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Coleman, Duffy = 9

Midfielders: Bilyaletidinov, Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Wallace = 8

Strikers: Saha, Yakubu, Anichebe, Vaughan, Beckford, Gueye, Agard, Baxter, Joao Silva = 9

This is the first team squad as listed on the official website, 29 players overall.

We can only have 25 so who would be your squad of 25 for September 1st to January 1st (as that date will be the next time players can be registered)

Don't forget to include your 8 home grown players!
 

Can't quite remember the rules, but we don't have to list half of these players I think, due to them being under 21 and have come through our academy? Something like that anyway

So I guess technically all of those can play? Where as Man City have possibly signed 25 players in the last 2 seasons alone, which is why they are in some bother I guess

Good point! I forgot to include that! Players under 21 and home grown do not have to be registered and are available for selection at any time.

It's nice to know it doesn't really effect us that much, and in fact leaves us with some scope for future signings. I can see the likes of City clamouring to get rid of some of their unneeded players which, like the press have said recently, could work in other clubs' favour.

To be honest there isn't a lot at Eastlands I'd be interested in anyway, I think Ireland, Onouha, that's about it.

Players who are 21 and under dont need to be in the list of 25 players submitted as we can play an unlimited amount. We have:

CB Shane Duffy - 18
CB Shakordan Mustafi - 17
LB Luke Garbutt - 17
LB Jake Bidwell - 17
DM Jack Rodwell - 19
CM James Wallace - 18
LM Magaye Gueye - 20
AM Jose Baxter - 18
ST Joao Silva -20
ST Kieran Agard - 20

who wont be included in the list of 25 players. The rest of the squad fills up around 20-21 slots.

I was under the impression they didn't have to be registered if they were under 21 and home grown (from England or Wales) which would mean a few on that list could not avoid registration.

No. You can have unlimited players under the age of 21 which is seperate from the list of 25. In the list of 25 you can obviously only have 25 players. Atleast 8 of them must be home grown which means they have been in an English or Welsh youth system 3 years before there 21st birthday. Scotand and Ireland arent included as they are seperate leagues. If a club doesnt have 8 home grown players but only has say 6 for example then they can only pick 23 players with the other two slots being useless.
 
Seamus is 21. We have 13+9 domestic players - plus the U21s - we only have to name 22 at the moment.. if we bring any one else in that won't be a problem. All our senior pros (those named on the Official Site) will be eligible so there's nothing to debate.
