Evertonians vs Police

Seen the rumours going round online that Everton fans "attacked" police, which in truth was no more than a bit of pushing and shoving.

Can I just say I was in the middle of everything that happened and Greater Manchester Police should be ashamed of themselves. We were all warded in to one fenced area whether we were on coaches or not and repeatedly hit by missiles from the City fans with absolutely nothing being done by the police about it. City fans were behind a fence and throwing coins, bottles, stones etc. while all the police were concerned about was the Evertonians shouting stuff back. One lad who tried to get out of the gate on the opposite side to the City fans (so I doubt he was looking to cause trouble) was hit in the HEAD with a baton. One lad was hit by a bottle and ran towards the fence before being pulled back by police. As I asked how to get out to my car a policewoman said "you need to wait until clowns like him have dispersed". What's all that about?

This post achieves absolutely nothing other than defending the people who reacted angrily of course, but it's just something I feel the need to say. I understand the need to separate two sets of supporters, but the fact police flat out ignored constant missiles thrown by City fans was a genuine danger and a disgrace.

Awful, that pen at the back of the ground is so badly designed and asking for trouble. City fans are morons, i think this could be why Everton didn't get more tickets, in case it really got out of hand.

How soon after the final whistle was this mate ?

I wandered down from the gods in Level 3, walked out through the gate and made my way to our car and didn't see any trouble. There were a few mouthy Mancs like, but nothing out of the ordinary.

That's all it looked like to me too.

Couldn't say really, but we eventually walked back through the gate we were originally diverted away from so they possibly opened it during the hassle. It was right towards the side of the ground with the dugouts on.

Yeah same I just walked through the coach park and out onto the road at the back, to blend in with the horrible locals to walk back to my flat in this hole of a city

Thing is there always is at City but i think they way it is set up back there doesn't help. Coming out of Old Trafford i have always found much easier but City has got an elimant of small time idiots who follow them.

Presumably that was the gate that was the other side of coaches ? The gate towards the dugouts is normally locked post mstch with everyone being channeled along to the coaches in the direction of the velodrome. It's a weird setup getting out of the Etihad and I wouldn't have argued if they'd decided to keep us back for ten minutes tbh.

Sounds like a minor thing, which was all over in a few minutes and must have finished before my old bones had made there !

Nothing mad happened like, this is just a general complaint about the policing being sub-par.

I've already complained about the tactics, the ref, the subs and the players.

I just want to complain if I'm honest.

Fume away lar.
Hark at me saying lar like a plazzy on holiday trying to pretend he's scouse.

GMP are always heavy handed at Eastlands. Don't know why, but at Old Trafford they treat us much more like human beings.

Edit : @4737carlin beat me to it on the Old Trafford thing.
