Seen the rumours going round online that Everton fans "attacked" police, which in truth was no more than a bit of pushing and shoving.
Can I just say I was in the middle of everything that happened and Greater Manchester Police should be ashamed of themselves. We were all warded in to one fenced area whether we were on coaches or not and repeatedly hit by missiles from the City fans with absolutely nothing being done by the police about it. City fans were behind a fence and throwing coins, bottles, stones etc. while all the police were concerned about was the Evertonians shouting stuff back. One lad who tried to get out of the gate on the opposite side to the City fans (so I doubt he was looking to cause trouble) was hit in the HEAD with a baton. One lad was hit by a bottle and ran towards the fence before being pulled back by police. As I asked how to get out to my car a policewoman said "you need to wait until clowns like him have dispersed". What's all that about?
This post achieves absolutely nothing other than defending the people who reacted angrily of course, but it's just something I feel the need to say. I understand the need to separate two sets of supporters, but the fact police flat out ignored constant missiles thrown by City fans was a genuine danger and a disgrace.
