As part of the transfer deal for Academy player Ben McLoughlin in August 2012, a friendly was agreed with his club Dundalk FC, current League of Ireland champions. As a pre season match for Dundalk, this would have to be played in January or February as the league runs through the summer. Naturally the blues only agreed to send over a reserve team, with possibly some senior players on return from injury (more than likely considering our current pile up in the treatment room).
