The worst ref in the league

So difficult to pick. Moss is a kopite, Atkinson is the new Webb just favouring whichever is the bigger media team, mariner and Swarbrick are just woeful. Anthony Taylor is a kopite and incompetent, then you have Clattenburg......

Aye good point mate. I guess the rest of this season now is about a process of rebuilding confidence in prep for next season so a top 10 finish I think will be the minimum the players will probably target from here on in.
Yeah, I cant see us finishing below Newcastle because they've been terrible with Carver in charge. Palace are a decent team now and we'd do well to match and beat their consistency. Stoke and West Ham are the other teams we must target and they haven't been at the races really of late.

Southampton will be a tough test but Forster is a massive blow for them. If Lukaku plays we can take the three points.

Did anyone see him ref the west ham v Sunderland game and not give a free kick to Sunderland before West Ham scored? Week in week out this absolute beaut makes an absolute balls up of refereeing.
I think they calculate too though, so I'm happy to have him as ref next match up. These refs belong to a private co. and the owners of it rely on being able to send their relatively small number of PL refs out to any ground without too much controversy. Mason will know that any poor series of decisions against us on top of the nightmare he had reffing us against Stoke at home will give him a reputation that he cant be sent safely to Goodison in the near future. He wont want to put his employers in that position. In theory I expect at least a game with some decisions going our way to avoid all that.

Good theory Dave. Unfortunately this cretin could mess up the best theory due to purely being incompetent.

Fume factor 5 on the cards here.

Maybe. But I think for the most part* these refs are cunning and self serving and always have their own interests foremost. It's a very well paid job and even the incompetent know what they need to do to serve their own purposes.

I'm not suggesting we'll get more decisions for us than against, but I dont expect after last time (when even Martinez kicked up a storm over Mason's performance) we'll see him giving the opposition a huge leg up to a result.

*Phil Dowd being the one and only exception.
