Everton vs Bury Friendly

I'm getting sick of playing small clubs all the time in the summer. Line up a few good teams, for Christ's sake. Bury were in league 2 last year.

We're always going to play 'local' sides like Bury though, just like Arsenal always play Barnet. We just need to organise some more challenging opposition further down the line.

They just had a great season and are now in league one, not a bad game for our first friendly and on a personal note I enjoy the trip and how close the players are to the fans and the kids can go up to them during the warm-up to get pictures and autographs, always a decent laugh.

I don't think anyone minds playing these lower league sides. It's more that we don't seem to play anyone else.

Last season we had about 6 pre-season friendlies. Only one was against a team at our level -- Wolfsburg -- and we were so used to playing teams below our level we got battered.

Mix it up, is all I'm saying. I bet there's loads of teams in major European leagues who'd want to play against Everton.
