Arsenal vs Everton
[/B]David Moyes has outlined the task facing Everton when he said his side cannot afford to lose at the Emirates if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
The Toffees, who have taken 13 points from their last five Barclays Premier League matches, travel to Arsenal knowing a victory would take them level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.
Moyes’s side upset the odds to finish fourth back in 2005, and the Scot reckons his side’s form gives them a chance of emulating that feat eight years on. ‘This is a vital game and games are running out,’ Moyes said speaking at his pre-match press conference.
‘If we have got any chance of making the Champions League, we have got to get something out of it.
‘For the last month we have been thereabouts but we will be the underdogs.
‘That said, the way we have been playing, it gives us a chance. We are still in there fighting for a European spot and that is a positive thing.’
Arsenal too are a side in form and after a disappointing campaign moved up into third after coming from a goal down to beat Norwich 3-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.‘Arsenal are a really good team with good players. They are a good side - they always have been,’ added Moyes.
‘If you were a bookmaker, you wouldn't make us favourites to qualify for the Champions League. Can it help being underdogs? It can but I would rather us be among the favourites.’
Victor Anichebe was given a standing ovation by the Goodison Park faithful after following up his display against Tottenham with the second goal against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
Having been denied once by a wonder save from Julio Cesar, the Nigerian striker poked the ball home from Sylvain Distin's header.
And the striker now plans to reach double figures for the season.
'Sylvain headed the ball across and I managed to poke it in,; he said. 'Hopefully I can finish the season with a couple more goals to get to double figures. I feel like I am getting stronger every single game and I feel like the team is getting stronger too.'
Moyes meanwhile singled out Anichebe for praise.
'Victor deserved his standing ovation. He has been terrific,' he said. 'I was one of the ones standing up applauding him, he did that well. He has got an awful lot going for him. He needed a bit of self confidence but he deserved his goal and we just want him to keep going.
'He can play through the middle, he can play out wide so he is quite versatile. We need people to get in to double figures with goals and he is nearly there'
